Off the Wagon

Okay, I will admit that I fell off the running wagon.  It was so hard to get out and move when I was scared out of my mind that I would fall and hurt myself on the ice or snow pack.  - I actually did fall a few weeks ago, said fall resulted in my leg being bruised from ankle to knee and a lot of swelling.  The pain was horrible so I went to the doctor, no broken bones! - With the amazing weather and Winston by my side I got back on the wagon today and went on a short run around main campus.  When I am out running I feel invigorated and usually think, “Shoot, I need to do this more often!”  The hardest part of my run is by far getting my but out of bed -and putting on my spandex- with the motivation to actually hit the pavement.

My goal is to work on my speed, my endurance is decent but, I honestly feel embarrassed when people see me run because I feel like a running slug! I am not going to let my embarrassment stop me from running!  When I ran at home with my sister over the Christmas Holiday I told her that by the time I saw her this summer -in Vegas- I would be able to keep pace with her, here’s hoping!

Mumford & Sons - Timshel

Cold is the water
It freezes your already cold mind
Already cold, cold mind
And death is at your doorstair
And it will steal your innocence
But it will not steal your substance

But you are not alone in this
And you are not alone in this
As brothers we will stand and we’ll hold your hand
Hold your hand

Random Thought

Why does the movie The Labyrinth scare the crap out of me? Trolls?  David Bowie?  The main character’s name is Sara?  Your guess is as good as mine.

One of my favorite memories of my great grandma is making caramel corn with her.  I was a child so I didn’t really do much but help her shake the popcorn while she poured the caramel on top.  I didn’t use her recipe this time, but I sure will next time!  I love all of the colors in the caramel, its like you can see the crunch, yum.

Christmas Baking

I usually go all out when baking for Christmas, but I’m really not feeling it this year so I am keeping things to a minimum and only making three maybe four things.

1: Orangettes, candied orange peel dipped in chocolate.  These are easy but time consuming and not many people find the idea of eating orange peel appetizing so I probably won’t make to many of them (ready: I will only make enough to stuff my face, satisfying my hunger for this weird food).

2: Carmel, I’ve never made Carmel before but I love the homemade stuff.

3: Spritz cookies, because the are good and CUTE!

4: its a toss up between Russian Teacakes (Mexican Wedding Cookies), Jam Thumb Prints, Toffee and Peppermint Bark Lollipops.  Suggestions?

I will of course be sharing!
